Presentations at events
that just work.

Speakers upload their slides via a link. The computer in the room downloads everything in advance and starts each talk on the right screens in one click: slides for the audience, notes and a timer for the speaker.

Why it exists

I've spoken at many conferences. Every time they promised everything was ready and that they do their best for speakers. Then I walked on stage and heard that sentence. The slides didn't load, presenter view ended up on the projector, the notes were nowhere.

It's not about technology. Nobody owns the whole thing from start to finish. FckScrn is my answer to that sentence.

FAQ

What is FckScrn?

An open-source tool for conferences, meetups and company events. The organizer puts the programme together, speakers upload their slides via their own link and the room computer downloads everything in advance. Each talk then starts in one click on the right screens: slides on the projector, notes and a timer on the speaker monitor.

Do I need to install anything on the room computer?

No. Open the room link in Chrome or Edge and allow access to screens. The projection goes fullscreen with a single key press, then it runs by itself.

What if the internet goes down?

Nothing happens. Presentations and the partner loop are downloaded to the browser in advance and play from there.

Does it work with PowerPoint and Keynote?

Yes. Speakers upload PowerPoint, Keynote, PDF or OpenOffice. The browser plays a PDF version; the desktop app can also run the original, e.g. for animations.

Do I need Slido for audience questions?

No. Every talk and panel has its own QR code in the corner of the projection. The audience asks from their phones without signing up and votes for the questions they care about. The speaker isn't distracted by them mid-talk; the technician puts them on the big screen with one button.

How much does it cost?

The open-source version is free on your own computer or server. The online version costs €59 per event with one room and €199 per event with up to five rooms. You pay once per event, no subscription.

What happens to the data?

The event deletes itself, files included, 14 days after it takes place. Before that you can download everything in one ZIP, or delete it right away.

Why open source?

Because presentations at events should just work. Anyone can run FckScrn for free. If you'd rather not deal with servers, use the online version.

Let your next talk just start.
